History of the Start-up Kit and Trellistar: After co-founding Stata Labs in early 2002, Andy Stack was determined to put together a robust way of managing operational, finance, marketing and product development communication. When he first encountered wikis, he realized the potential of an open system to help start-up companies manage their information and collaboration with out the overhead and IT control needed of a large enterprise system. Over time he developed and implemented templates, modules, and procedures, most of which were hosted by the wiki. Andy managed his company's business operations from inception through integration into Yahoo! Inc. after its acquisition. The business integration into Yahoo! was one of the fastest completed integrations due in part to the procedures that were in place. Not everything was perfect however, so armed with the knowledge and experience of what was done right and what could be improved, the Start-up Kit was created. It is designed with the end-game of due diligence for an acquisition or funding event in mind. Then, working backwards, the Start-up Kit fills best practices into the areas and functions that matter the most. Andy Stack Andy Stack co-founded Stata Labs, a software company that launched Bloomba, the first search-based email program, and SAproxy Pro, the anti-spam software that ranked number one with Consumer Reports in 2003. While directing product management as well as finance and operations, Stack launched the first version of Bloomba and SAproxy and then grew the company to 40 people when it was acquired by Yahoo! (YHOO) in the fall of 2004. Stack has 10 years experience in the software industry in finance, operations and product management. In 1999 Stack co-founded DealMaven, a successful financial services software company, with customers such as Lehman Brothers, Deutsche Bank, Bear Sterns and the Wharton School. During his four years as a consultant with Oracle, Stack developed a unique printing solution that he grew into a product and was later sold as an add-on solution to Oracle customers. He received his MBA in Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Princeton University, earning a BS in Electrical Engineering. |
